The Role
Cosmic Semiconductors is looking for a hands-on Purchasing & Material Planning Manager to structure and develop the Purchasing function.
The role combines two complementary areas:
- Procurement, sourcing and supplier management.
- Material planning, MRP and inventory management.
- Purchasing team leadership and development.
- Support to Production, Lean transformation and ERP/MES implementation.
Key Responsibilities
Purchasing Operations and Team Management
- Lead, organise and develop a team of buyers with different experience levels.
- Standardise purchasing processes, responsibilities and escalation rules.
- Work directly with the ERP, purchase orders, shortages and supplier commitments.
- Introduce operational KPIs and continuous improvement practices.
BOM and Material Planning
- Implement an early BOM review process to identify supply risks.
- Manage shortages, long lead-time, obsolete and single-source components.
- Review MRP parameters, safety stocks, reorder points and purchasing lead times.
- Introduce kanban, min/max and automatic replenishment where appropriate.
Supplier Management
- Source, qualify and develop national and international suppliers.
- Negotiate prices, lead times, MOQ, payment terms and framework agreements.
- Introduce supplier segmentation, scorecards and performance reviews.
- Rationalise the supplier base while protecting supply continuity.
Lean, ERP and International Development
- Support Lean initiatives related to material flow and line replenishment.
- Represent Purchasing in the implementation of the new ERP and MES.
- Improve supplier and material master data, workflows, reports and alerts.
- Progressively coordinate purchasing activities across international subsidiaries.
Candidate Profile
- At least 5-7 years of experience in Purchasing, Material Planning or Supply Chain within a manufacturing company.
- Direct experience with ERP/MRP systems, complex BOMs, inventory and shortage management.
- Experience leading or developing buyers, planners or supply-chain professionals.
- Good English and ability to work with suppliers and international teams.
Preferred Experience
- Electronics, semiconductors, automation, mechatronics, EMS or industrial equipment.
- High-mix/low-volume, make-to-order or engineer-to-order manufacturing.
- Electronic component sourcing, including authorised distributors, obsolescence and supply risk.
- Lean Manufacturing, kanban, ERP/MES projects or relevant professional certifications.

Key Objectives
During the first 12 months, the successful candidate will be expected to:
- Standardise Purchasing processes and develop the team.
- Improve BOM coverage and reduce shortages and emergency purchases.
- Implement structured inventory and supplier-management policies.
- Support the company’s Lean transformation and ERP/MES programme.
